On the morning of Queen Margrethe’s birthday, the 16th of April, the Stock Exchange building caught fire ongoing renovation. The iconic spire collapsed and the dragons on it, should protect the building from danger, including fires.
Børsen was known as Børsbygningen "The (Stock) exchange building" and is a 17th-century stock exchange in the center of Copenhagen. The spire was shaped as the tails of four dragons twined together and was reaching a height of 56 metres.
Børsen was built under the reign of Christian IV in 1619–1640, the building was considered a leading example of the Dutch Renaissance style in Denmark. It was a protected building for conservation purposes.
